These are all pieces of my own writing. They range from the analytical to the creative, and have accumulated over the past few years, where I have begun to explore my writing abilities more seriously. Ironically, even though I have a focus in Creative Writing as an English major, I have selected more formal pieces of writing than creative pieces of writing (this is probably due to the fact that I am much more critical of my creative pieces than I am of my formal academic pieces). Hopefully this selection of my own work demonstrates my growth as a writer, as well as the diversity I possess.

Creative Pieces
This is the first play I have ever written and it will most likely be the last one too. I wrote this play with a partner who shared my struggle with drama, and we ended up writing it about the actual assignment and included our professor as a character (with a slight name change for originality). It was part of an introductory creative writing course I took my sophomore year of college with Professor Gibson
One of my longer non-fiction pieces that I wrote for the same class as the play. It's about a music festival in Downtown Las Vegas that I attended with my boyfriend and his fraternity.
The first piece of fiction that I have ever written, and also one of my favorite pieces. It is about a homeless girl's quest for survival in the New York winter with the group of homeless teens she has become friends with.
I wrote this poem when I was still a Biology major taking an English class to fill a requirement. It was actually this poetry class and the professor that made me realize that my passion was not in Science, but in English. This poem was recently selected and published in St. Mary's literary magazine, RiverRun, in the 2016-2017 edition. Ironically, I wrote the original draft of this poem in a few minutes and actually despised it at first, but with a lot of edits and suggestions, I guess it came out to be pretty good!
This is the first poem that I wrote for my first poetry class. It's a poem about a previous boyfriend, and every line (including the title) is relating to and/or describing a physical aspect.
This is a poem I wrote about a previous boyfriend. At the time it was written, we were still together, and it focuses on a night at the beach together.
